Two weeks ago, we sent out an email asking for your help in supporting Shelly Roath (from Vic’s Pizza) and her family, who were facing homelessness at the end of October. Around $11,000 in cash, plus other needed household items and furniture, was generously donated by our community.
The overwhelmingly positive response brought tears to Shelly’s eyes, as so many of you generously donated to help her afford to rent a home for her family. She would love to be able to thank each of you individually, and wrote this note below to share with you:
“I cannot begin to tell you how grateful my girls and I are for all the love and kindness we’ve received from everyone. Just a short couple weeks ago I thought I was going to have to tell my beautiful girls that we didn’t have a place to live anymore. Never had I felt more defeated and afraid. Then the wonderful people around me showed us that we are loved and cared for more than I ever thought possible. Thank you all so very much. You all made it possible for me to not only find a new home to rent, but also for me to have the money needed to move in. Today is my middle daughter’s 9th birthday and all she asked for was for us to be together and have a place to live. Thank you for making that a reality for us.”
