Market Update

Here in Punta Gorda, the first week of July is a hot one! This heat is not slowing buyers down – in fact, unit sales of single family canal homes in PGI/BSI are up 10% for the second quarter as compared to the second quarter of 2018. Single family home unit sales in Burnt Store Marina are up over 50% in comparison to the second quarter of last year.

Condo unit sales in both markets are pretty much in line with last year, though average selling prices of condos are up a little over 10% compared to 2018.
Unit sales of vacant canal lots in PGI/ BSI are up almost 80% over the second quarter of last year, with the average selling price just over $200,000.

Real estate is not the only thing that is hot right now! Our town is staying busy into the summer months with fun new recreation, the opening of new businesses, and plenty of events to keep us occupied. The body of this newsletter dives deeper into some of the happenings around town.
Stay cool and enjoy the summer!

What’s new in Punta Gorda?

PicklePlex of Punta Gorda is officially open! The ribbon cutting took place on June 24th, officially opening the first 16 courts. Over the last several years, PickleBall has become tremendously popular in Punta Gorda, and residents are excited to have new courts to play on. Players are even driving from Fort Myers to play on our new courts. Plans for the second phase are still in the works, which will include a 40,000 sqft building housing 8 indoor courts, a pro-shop, restaurant and bar. The city expects a great economic impact from visitors who will come here to participate in tournaments.
The courts are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and is located at 26300 Airport Rd., Punta Gorda.

“Tails From The Harbor”
An awesome new mural was just dedicated on June 20th by the Punta Gorda Mural Society. Artist Skip Dyrda completed the masterpiece last month, which showcases our local wildlife such as turtles, rays, schools of fish, and birds. We encourage you to come visit this tribute to our town, which is located under the Tamiami bridge nearest Hurricane Charley’s.
Learn more about this great piece on the Punta Gorda Mural Society Website.

Punta Gorda Is Caffeinated!
Starbucks in Punta Gorda is officially open for business! Residents have expressed excitement to have a new place to relax and meet friends. Studies have found that Starbucks moving into town is a sign of gentrification and means that an area is poised for growth.
