Golf Options in the Punta Gorda & Cape Coral Area

One of the main attractions to those visiting or living in Southwest Florida is the game of golf.  What a great way to enjoy the outdoors, take in beautiful sights and sounds all while spending time with good friends! There is a variety of quality golfing options located within Punta Gorda and Cape Coral. These courses are all accessible by a short car ride usually 20 – 30 minutes in either direction. This is one of the reasons why this region is a golf lover’s paradise.

You don’t have to be a professional player to enjoy some quality fairway time at these venues.  These courses can challenge even the best golfers with their water hazards, sand bunkers and thick rough. So, whether you are looking for an Executive style golf course or a Regulation course you will find a little of everything to meet your needs. Here are some of the basic differences between the two styles of courses you will find in this area.  Get out there and swing away!

Executive course: An executive course might come with 18 holes or 9 holes, but will always be shorter – and, therefore, quicker to play – than “regulation” golf courses with the same number of holes. An executive course will include more par-3 holes and fewer par-4 and par-5 holes. The main goal is to allow golfers to finish their rounds in less time.

18-hole Regulation course: This is your standard, full-sized, 18-hole course. The 18-hole standard golf course is comprised of mostly par-4 holes with a mix of par-3 holes and par-5 holes. When the generic term “golf course” is used, this is what most people think of.
